SERIES OVERVIEW
People are still talking about DragonflyTV, the Emmy Award winning PBS science show for ‘tween kids and the only all-science show for elementary and middle-school kids on television today. Shows feature regular kids—not actors—pursuing inquiry-based science investigations in a real-world context. Now starting its seventh season on PBS, DragonflyTV Nano showcases ordinary kids conducting extraordinary inquiry-based investigations, aided by science museums and university research labs nationwide. The new episodes begin airing in November 2008 with actor Eric Artell as host.
Like other DragonflyTV seasons before it, DragonflyTV Nano is characterized by its solid educational focus and a mix of fast-paced pop music and eye-catching visuals. The series is seen by more than one million people each week during its regular season and airs on nearly 200 public television stations nationwide. The web site provides an interactive, multi-media, 24/7 science experience at pbskids.org/dragonflytv.
DragonflyTV Nano is a special grant-funded initiative of the National Science Foundation. Its goal is to
inform a mass audience of children, adults and educators about the revolutionary advances taking place in nanoscience and nanotechnology. |
